Traditional Skills
Around the world there are amazing artisans who are highly skilled in making traditional crafts. Generations of their family have been silversmithing, embroidery, handweaving, block printing or knitting. Sadly, companies are using more mechanisation, there is competition from cheap factory imports and artisans are often being exploited for their skill.
Ethical fashion looks to work with artisans by using traditional skills to give designs a uniqueness that will sell in the marketplace. This helps to ensure their skills are kept alive to pass down to their children and offers security for their livelihood.
