Simple Disc Necklace

Pippa Small is a highly acclaimed London based jewellery designer. Her early childhood travels were to have an enormous influence on her as she became fascinated by other cultures. This led her to study anthropology and then complete a MA in medical anthropology. She started making jewellery to fund her degree and soon attracted the attention of the fashion world leading to collaborations with Gucci, Nicole Farhi, and Chloe. She had a superb rough diamond collections with Christina Kim of Dosa. Later her two interests merged while working on craft initiatives with indigenous communities such as the San Bushman of the Kalahari, the Batwa Pygmies of Rwanda, and the Kuna in Panama, helping them to research their traditional designs to generate self-sufficiency and income. She now divides her time equally between her anthropological work and jewellery collections. Each of Pippa's designs for the Made Boutique Collection are full of culture and personality

Made jewellery is made in a small work shop in Karen, Nairobi. There are 30 full time workers in the work shop, each recieve hot meals while on duty as well as medical assistance, showers and transport to and from work. Made also make sure their workers receive a decent living wage from their businesses through the orders they place with them. This extra income can drastically improve lives and ultimately rejuvenate entire communities. Made's main objective is to train local artisans, improve their working conditions and set them up in business by providing tools and materials. Their workers own a stake in the workshop and benefit from net profits generated. Made's long-term mission is to continue empowering impoverished communities by building a network of similar workshops across East Africa
