Amazonlife are an emerging leader in terms of South American fairly trade practice and in particular a wonderful example of rainforest protection through alternative, local and traditional industry. The indigenous Association of Rubber Tappers co-own the patent on this unique and sustainable material and the processing techniques behind it. Working closely with the Forest Stewardship Council Amazonlife are currently supporting over 200 Indigenous Tribal families who are earning 8-10 times more than they would be if selling the liquid latex only. AmazonLife designs, develops and commercializes value added sustainable products, offering customers the opportunity to contribute to the preservation of the planet’s largest forest. AmazonLife believes in the importance of the Amazon rainforest for life on the planet and wants, through its products, to introduce its values into urban lives, creating awareness of the social and environmental benefits. The project works on the improvement of the traditional hand-made products of the rubber tappers from the Amazon, in order to make them competitive for the international markets. Tribal communities in the Amazon basin depend on rubber tapping activity to survive in the forest. AmazonLife in alliance with Rubber Tappers Associations develops Treetap® sustainable production, helping to protect over 900,000 hectares of wild forest from exploitation
